Summary: Nothing we've had heats better!!
Comment: We've had a Lakewood radiator for a couple of years and we use it in our master bedroom. We keep several types of space heaters in our home as it gets very cold here in winter and our large 1908 home can be drafty. Nothing we have ever owned heats better than this Lakewood, and I have never noticed much difference in my electric bill. It heats evenly, not warmest closest to the heater like other space heaters do. If the door to our large master bedroom is shut and the unit is on high, I get too hot! With the door open, it keeps my entire upstairs (four large bedrooms, a bathroom, and a foyer) very comfortable. I leave my furnace set on 62 and it is always at least 70 upstairs. I bought a different brand of radiator heater last winter. It looked the same but it was no match for our Lakewood. I will be purchasing two more of these soon and I think that will greatly help keep us warm in our 3000 sq foot house while our heating bills go down!!

Summary: Works Well
Comment: Very please so far, and our bedroom is 18x14X10. Heats evenly and well on high setting, just plan on and hour or two to let it warm up depending on room size and current temp.

Using this heater to heat an Master Bedroom with Master Bath attached. As long as I close the bedroom door to the rest of the house, this unit keeps the bedroom plenty warm(72 degrees)and also the bathroom as well even on the coldest night of the year so far(12 degrees F). We were able to set the central heat all the way back to 59 degrees in the rest of the house. It is just 2 of us in house so far, so we really only need to be heating one room at night.

So far vary happy after a few sub 20 degree nights. There was a faint odor this first night we used this heater(as expected) but by the second night it was already gone. I dont think I miss the electronic controls of the other higher priced units at all. The only real feature missing is a timer control, but if I find I cant remember to turn the heater off in the morning (really how hard is this), we would always get aa 8 dollar timer switch.

Summary: Nicely priced, good features, but doesn't heat the room.
Comment: I have had the heater running on it's highest setting for 7 hours (I can't wait to see my electric bill). I have noticed no appreciable difference in the temperature of the room (large room 18x15, and has an open hallway that leads to other rooms + upstairs). It has been about 25 degrees outside during this time. I also have my furnace running, so you could argue that the radiator is taking the burden off the furnace, but I hear the furnace kicking on and off as usual. When sitting 1 foot away from the radiator it feels warm, but not toasty. After 2 feet away I can not feel ANY warmth. More warmth comes off of the top of the unit (you can feel it 3 feet away..barely).

The research I have read tells me that the only differences in brands are features and styling and not in how well they heat. Therefore, I assume that this unit heats as well as all other oil filled heaters and that this really isn't a good option for heating a large room.

The unit seems to have more features than most (auto shut off in overheat and tip over, thermostat, etc.). However, it has one feature that none of the others have (3 settings for power 600w, 900w, and 1,500w. *not to be confused with the thermostat). Since the heater couldn't do the job on the highest setting I did not check the output in the lower energy settings.

I noticed that the grills of the radiator get extremely hot to the touch. If you touch it you are fine because you will reflexively pull away without a burn, I wonder about babies though.
