Summary: fantastic and dependable device
Comment: we used this device in europe. instructions easy to understand. user-friendly. totally amazed by its accuracy of roadways, tolls, hotels, location of gas stations and restaurants. however it failed us in Milan to note that the Car Museum was closed for renovation prior to our arrival to the museum. we lost some valuable time that afternoon touring Milan, Italy.

Summary: Worth EVERY Penny!
Comment: I love, love, love my TomTom 930T. My husband and I bought the 920 in May '08 and later exchanged it for the upgraded 930 for the extra features! We've used our TomTom all over the country and there is no question we would be lost without it.

I've only noticed I had a problem seeing the screen when I had polarized sunglasses on. When I take those off for a sec, I can see the screen perfectly, even when it's sunny! By the way, the screen is huge.

TomTom tells me the name of the street that I am suppose to turn on, and that for me is a required feature.

My TomTom has bluetooth which I use ALL of the time so I don't have to wear that stupid ear peice.

My husband loves the traffic receiver. You can buy service or we found that we receive the same info by just using the little wire this model comes with. There is no need to pay for the service!

I'll end this by saying again, I love, love, love my TomTom 930T!

Summary: Tom Tom verse Magellan
Comment: My last GPS was a Magellan 800. It worked very well was much larger, and in the Xterra, bounced a lot if you did not pin the GPS to the dash rather than have it hanging on the mount, not a big problem. It did not talk as much, but it's use of English was much clearer. I live in Omaha Nebraska and often go to Lincoln, The 930 says "Lin Clone" a minor problem since the Magellan just gave simple no name directions.I find, in a rougher ridding car, the buttons work. better than a touch screen, with a touch screen, you tend to hit the screen multiple times. There seems to be no true shut off for the GPS, if you leave it off for a few weeks, the batteries are dead. It also seems to not work well when you have low batteries and a hot car, something that happens when stooped and the GPS is still in the window. None of these things are deal breakers, The main reason I purchased the 930 was because of the on line map updates ( My Magellan stooped giving map updates in its 3 year) and the interstate lane display designators ( have not seen them yet, but it may be new yet to Omaha and Arizona. I have found that the TomTom works just fine, and as updates to the maps continue, it will get to the point of the Magellan 800 maps, not for roads but for store locations. The cell phone bluetooth connection works great found hotels and called and made reservations routing is easy, all I would really want was more accurate business locations on the map, and easier to understand voices to make it a 5 star unit. With the on line conncection and continus updates, this will happen. for now, it is a 4 star unit.

Summary: I actually have a GO 920 but it's not listed on this site.
Comment: I got my Tom Tom because I thought the GO 920 was the best model available anywhere, when I bought it. I didn't skimp on price. Price was no object because I wanted the best. There are a number of disappointments with this product: 1. Tom Tom is supposed to have free map updates, but unfortunately when I try to update my maps I get a message that my product doesn't qualify for free updates. This is a big disappointment. 2. The 920 says "You have reached your destination" TWICE! First at the intersection BEFORE you have reached it without telling you if you should turn right or left and then again when you have reached it, but it doesn't tell you if it is on your left or your right like Magellan does, which I tested in a Hertz Rent a Car. 3. The 920 frequently tells you to turn right before you reach your destination when the destination is in plain sight on your left. 4. The Bluetooth speakerphone has GREAT duplex sound quality but it won't activate the voice dialing in my LG cell phone, which even the cheapest Bluetooth headsets & speakerphones do. Then to add insult to injury it won't import the phone numbers from my phone. 4. It would be nice if there was an EASY way to rename a favorite ONTHE SAME SCREEN you enter it on instead of having to hunt for "Manage Favorites" in the options when your not in a rush to get somewhere. 6. I hope someone from Tom Tom actually reads this & offers me a reasonable upgrade to the GO 930, which I would hope has the bugs out of it.

Summary: Very good gps
Comment: I was torn between a TomTom Go 930 and Nuvi 755T/775T. I needed both North American and European maps and liked the idea of lane assist, while traffic information was not that important. After reading many reviews and comparing prices I decided to purchase a TomTom Go 930. I was a little concerned because some of the very negative reviews I read about the quality of the maps and of problems with updating maps or contacting service representatives. In addition, I purchase a 4 GB card because a reviewer commented that he could not install the updated European map on the internal memory and a holder that attaches to vent.

So far this has been a great unit. It started up fine and is easy to use right out of the box. It locked onto seven satellites even inside my house. On my first test drives, the 930 calculated sometimes a different way than I normally drive, but it recalculated the directions very quickly if I chose a different route. I am not sure if the TomTom route was better or worse, but it certainly got me to the right location in a timely fashion. It is also very easy to choose an alternative route either through a specific location, choosing a specific road, avoiding a road (I have not tried this) or having the GO recalculate another route. The directions are clear and given well in advance and then right before making the turn. If you miss the instructions you can press the turn arrow and it is repeated. I selected to have the street name pronounced which is only possible when using the computer voice. It works very nice and I had not problems understanding the directions. So for me it did the most important thing, get me where I want to go. It also seemed to work well with one-way streets. I had an issue once with using a Garmin in Boston where it suggested that I should go against one-way streets, it was not my gps so I do not know how old the map was or what the settings were.

Several reviewers complained about not being able to update the maps despite the 30 days guarantee. I had no issues. It might be that the users did not go to the right place to do it. It only worked from a pull down menu for me and I actually did not need additional memory to install both the updated North American and European map.

One criticism of the maps is that I have yet to see the lane assist in action and that few roads have speed limits included. While the lane assist is not included for many locations, I chose to have the road sign displayed, which helps a lot to choose the correct lane. I like the ability to correct the map myself and download changes made by other users. This should help to continuously improve the map, great feature.

POIs are good and you can download more if you want to. I did not get the gps to transmit to the radio yet, but I have not tried a lot. It might be due to having the antenna in the rear. Despite what others said I did not need the extra storage space to update the maps and the vent holders work well if you have the right car. If your vents are vertical they work great, like in a BMW, but if you have angled or horizontal vents, like a Toyota Corolla, the glare is very disturbing. I think that this is a great unit and a much better deal than the equivalent Garmin that I was considering.
