Bamboo-Leaf Japanese Maple Acer palmatum scolopeudrifolium rubra Parent shows extremely dissected, very long narrow elongated red leaves. Foliage is so 'cut' and long that it almost resembles bamboo. Fall is brilliant red. Tree may grow to 25 ft. Hardy in zones 5-9. Also makes a geat bonsai! When choosing a location, keep in mind that this tree has a slow growth rate. It grows up to 8 feet in height and 8 feet in spread. It can be planted in zones 5 to 8. Prefers well-drained soil that is rich on organic material and full or partial sun.
