Summary: Don't buy this on itunes!
Comment: This is definitely something you should physically own. If you buy it digitally (i.e. via itunes) you don't get the wonderful book, stickers, and poster. It is a great Christmas album to add to any library.

Comment: This was a great album. It was funny, it was serious. To me it really captured the spirit of Christmas. Good enough to listen to all year round. It's not just an album, it's an experience.

Summary: A Christmas delight
Comment: After first reading the reviews of this on e music, I tried a few songs. My wife and I loved them, and I decided to just buy the set. What a delight, took the set to my in laws to listen to during Christmas celebration. The comments were non-stop throughout the day of how everyone loved the music. it is fresh, clean, not overpolished. Homey can be used.
Whatever, it was PERFECT for a day with family, adding to the family FEEL of the day. A must buy!!!!!

Summary: Sing a carol to your mom.
Comment: In 2001, 2002, 2003 & 2005, Sufjan Stevens recorded Christmas EPs for his friends and family. In 2006, he recorded another Christmas EP, packaged it with the previous EPs, and released them all commercially. The music tends to have a home recorded quality to it, which can be quite charming. The songs are a mix of traditional Christmas music plus original Christmas songs. Some of the tracks are instrumentals, which tend to be very short. Overall, the music is quite enjoyable and different from other Christmas albums.

Summary: you will love Christmas music after hearing the album(s)
Comment: This is what introduced me to Sufjan (and I have never been the same!). My mother, who is in her mid 50s, loves this set. I secretly look forward to Thanksgiving because I can put the album in my cd player for the next couple of months...and we play it while we're taking our tree down so we can enjoy it one last time before putting Christmas stuff up. It has many traditional Christmas songs, as well as some he has written, and some stellar renditions of old hymns that will be familiar to many. This has to be the best Christmas album ever.

In December 2001, Sufjan set out to create a Christmas gift for his friends and family. The result was a seven-song recording that he called "Noel Vol. 1". Over the next several years, he created new EPs to add to the collection. This 5-CD box set includes all five volumes, plus a 42-page booklet with an original Christmas essay by acclaimed American novelist Ricky Moody, two essays, a short story by Stevens, a holiday sticker, chord charts, lyrics, comic strip, family portrait poster, photos, and an animated video.
