Customer Rating: Summary: As promised Comment: Delivered as promised. Very easy to assemble. Worked first time out of the box in minutes. Those with other table top models took hours to set up after purchase. AND it is in beautiful BADGER RED! Perfect for UW tailgating (both football and crew events!) Easy to transport to different venues!
Customer Rating: Summary: i love it!!! Comment: I've had it for 12 days and used it 10 of those days. I love this grill!
I love that the grill is divided into 2 removable halves. I tend to grill only a few things on any given day and use 1 half of the grill, leaving the other side for the next day. Of course you can fire up both burners and fill it up. It would hold 8-10 burgers easily.
my grill had NO warning sticker/placard about not cooking with the lid down (plastic handle will melt?) But based on other reviews I've read, I haven't tried. I can see how the plastic handle could melt.
I've never had to cook on anything other than low and sometimes turned it to just below LOW. The grill sits only a couple of inches above the burners so it heats fast. I use an instant read meat thermometer and have turned out perfect chicken and burgers.
The enameled cast iron grill surfaces are NOT non stick, so pre-spray them with pam or a similar spray prior to lighting the grill. I put the grill halves right into the dishwasher, spray them with DAWN power dissolver and they come out super clean. I LOVE that they fit in the dishwasher!
DO LINE THE BOTTOM OF THE GRILL WITH FOIL to make clean up inside the grill easy. ALWAYS REMEMBER TO PULL OUT THE PLASTIC SIDE TRAYS BEFORE LIGHTING THE GRILL.
Assembly was easy. Put the wheels on with the provided wrench, snap on the wheel hub covers. took maybe 10 minutes.
I'm STILL using my first small bottle of propane after 10 uses (cooking on low). I wish it had a natural gas converson kit because I have a hookup on my patio. :( I'll probably upgrade to larger propane tank at some point, but for portability you can't beat the small propane tanks
Customer Rating: Summary: Great for camping Comment: We purchased the Coleman 9949-750 road trip grill because we were looking for a larger grill for camping. The grill is great on space and the side pull out trays very handy. We were able to cook burgers and dogs for 8 with plenty of room. It is nice that we can bring it to other campsites and we have actually used it at our house too. We have not cooked with the grill cover all the way down due to other reviews we read stating that the handle has melted so we just prop it up a little and have had no issues. We got an adapter and have hooked it up to a larger propane bottle instead of having to buy lots of small bottles. We bought the "full size" griddle to go along with it and are looking to get the burner adapter too. This grill is great!
Customer Rating: Summary: Good Idea / Questionable Exectuion and Quality - Check out the Freedom Grill FG-50! Comment: After researching for a new tailgating grill, I came down to the RoadTrip LXE or the Weber Q200. The Weber's stand seemed flimsy and the cast lid on the display model was cracked, so I went for the RoadTrip.
After unpacking the RoadTrip, I noticed the one leg was missing some paint (slightly oversprayed, but definitely missing another pass). Next the lid latch would not align requiring some force to push the lid back to lock it. The lock mechanism is not very heavy duty to begin with. So I set out to do what it was designed to do, fold it up to roll, and SLAM, the cooking grates start moving around and the side tray on the bottom doesn't stay in place. Not to mention I should have noticed prior to buying, but at 50 lbs, this is not very portable by nature.
Returning to the Internet, I found that I was not alone on the quality issues (even some people reporting fires!). I also learned that the lid should not be closed while grilling. So any cedar plank grilling is out of the question! However, I was lucky enough to discover some recommendations for the Freedom Grill FG-50 $299 (with cover). The Coleman LXE $179 + case $39 were immediately returned.
Now the Jeep doesn't smell like grilling for days after the tailgate plus I don't have to worry about anything being too hot or dripping out during transit. Also when tailgating in grass fields, I don't have to find level ground for the grill or carry shims for it. Yes, a bit more expensive, but well worth it.

It's even easier to transport, and quicker and easier to set up at a tailgate party, campsite or any other location where fun, food and friends get together. Like the original RoadTrip Grill, the LXE features authentic open flame grilling, two powerful burners that are fully adjustable, electronic ignition and uncommon cooking versatility thanks to mix-and-match cooking surface options. However, a cleverly designed new stand distinguishes the LXE model from its predecessor. The X-shaped chassis is wheeled for easy maneuvering in both the upright and collapsed-for-transport positions. It sets up quickly and provides excellent stability for cooking, thanks to the simplicity of the scissor-like leg and frame design. Two side tables integrated into the unit slide out for grilling and cooking duties, then retract under the unit in a moment's motion for travel and storage. Because the grill is affixed to the stand and the lid features a locking mechanism, the unit is secure and steady while towing it to and from a vehicle using a convenient pull handle. The Coleman Roadtrip Grill LXE is designed to be used completely assembled. If table top use is desired - simply hand remove the 4 plastic cap screws and start cooking! The Roadtrip Grill LXE is easy to assemble - Push on wheels and insert plastic handle and it is ready to use! New tool holders and stainless steel carry handles added for convenience. The LXE fits into most auto trunks/SUV's.
