Summary: Another Great Video From Leap Frog!
Comment: This video (along with all the other Leap Frog Videos) is amazing. "When two vowels go walking, the first one does the talking," is one of the main ideas. It is great for beginning readers. I have a 2nd grader, Kindergartner, and preschooler...they all love this video.

Comment: The Leap Frog series of DVDs has been such a great tool in helping our child learn to read. The Letter Factory made learning the sounds of letters fun. Talking Words Factory helps teach putting letters together to make words with the short vowel sounds. Now Code Word Caper takes it to the next level, teaching kids about the silent e that changes short vowels to long vowels: the vowels say their name. The plots and characters are fun, making the whole learning process fun! After our daughter saw this one she said, "That was great!" - and wanted to watch it again the next day!

Comment: Letter Factory and Word Caper videos made letters,letter sounds, sounding out and reading so much fun and easy, I wish I had had it for my older child. Well worth the investment.

Comment: This video is perfect for beginning readers who know the short vowel sounds and are able to blend. Both of my daughters were able to transition from words like "cat" and "fat" to words with digraphs and special rules (e.g. magic E) painlessly. After the first time my four-year-old watched this video, she was able to write out simple words like HOP and then lengthen the O by adding the magic E (i.e. HOPE).
I have younger children as well and they were very entertained by the video, although I am not sure if there was any real educational benefit for them.

When Mr. Websley is accidentally silenced by the Silent E Machine, Leap, Lily, and Tad must journey through the Complex Word Complex to build the code words needed to return his voice. Guided only by the "Absent Professor Device," the kids learn how to build the complex words needed to solve the code and save the day. Humorous songs add to the fun and help teach the rules for advanced word building.
