Summary: Memory Makers Magazine Offers Ideas For Scrapbookers
Comment: Memory Makers Magazine promises "a community of ideas and inspiration primarily for scrapbooking", and the magazine does a good job hitting their target. Memory Makers is published nine times a year by F&W Publications, and sells at a reasonable price. The newsstand cover price is $5.95, but a yearly subscription can go as low as $2 - $3 per issue if you search for discounts. The magazine does not undertake anything ambitious, just creative layouts that are doable for your average scrapbooker.
Scrapbooking subjects are tackled by dividing them into three departments: community, ideas, and inspiration. Community includes Journaling Spot, On the Web, Reader Mail, ScrapHappenings, and Great Finds. Ideas cover Calendar, Digital Design, Focus on Images, True Colors, Page Maps, and How Do You Do That, and Inspiration includes Reader Idea Gallery, It's About Time, Getting Started, Take 2 and Inspired Living.
The technique pages offer good ideas. The February 2008 issue covers dribble paint writing, multi colored stamping, mesh doodle frame, chipboard tile letters, crumpled paper flowers, hand stitched letters, and flocked paper. The dribble painting is journaling titles that are written with acrylic paint using a pointed bottle tip. It's such an easy idea! And cutting out paper flowers and crumpling gives fast depth to your page.
The ideas offered are simple and some are repetitive, but a beginner or medium level scrapbooker can use the magazine as a starting point. The publication offers contests, advice, and additional information online. There is a forum to connect with other scrapbookers and discuss common interests.

Comment: I subscribe to only 4 paper craft related magazines and this one is one of the best. I find it only includes layouts showing the latest trends and products and while I may not have all of them, it is very inspiring. there is always something new to try, buy or enjoy.

Summary: Changes to this magazine are disappointing
Comment: I was already teetering on whether to renew my subscription to MM or subscribe to another publication instead. I ended up sticking with MM because I have enjoyed the layouts in this publication for a long time. I made the wrong decision. The "new" memory makers is boring. They got rid of the interesting layouts. There are far fewer layouts in this new magazine and the ones they show are nothing new. The new articles offered in place of the layouts aren't interesting and really don't offer anything that an experienced scrapbooker doesn't know. I won't be resubscribing.

Summary: Very fun magazine
Comment: I consider myself still a beginner scrapbooker after purchasing supplies for 3 years now. I just don't have as much time to scrapbook as I would like, but this magazine has great ideas, themes, and advertisements. Lots of ads in this particular magazine have coupons and free items for online purchases, so that has been tons of fun to just see what all I can get at a discount price that I otherwise wouldn't have gotten. I mainly look at the pictures, but the few articles I have read are pretty good, but the pictures are always the best. I love getting magazines that are full of so much helpful information! I think this is a great magazine for the money.

Comment: I find this magazine full of ideas and thought provoking. I save them all and have friends that will say they have a need for scrapping ideas and I can go back and look up something for them to use.
