Summary: The Original Artwork for Off The Wall album
Comment: I only wish that Michael Jackson, Epic/Sony would release this album with the original artwork featuring Michael Jackson's face (when he was black and before his nose surgeries) and his nice afro. I fortunately bought this CD in 1991 which featured the original artwork of a handsome young man. It is just a shame what has happened to his appearance.

Summary: it has bad sound quality
Comment: I got this from the company when I worked there, I opened it and I played it and the sound was so bad I took it out and broke it in half and melted it with the microwave and drained it, I kept the case because I have a copy thats missing the case, so its worth buying if u have an old one missing the case.

Summary: SO BAD! (=BRILLIANT)
Comment: Any body from 1 to 101 would want to bust out hearing these audio P-funk, pop spells . The musicians behind MJ's lead create a soaring atmosphere of dance heaven. The evidence of MJ music genius lay within this album.

Summary: Thriller has nothing on this cd
Comment: I didn't give Off The Wall 5 stars only because I know Michael Jackson wasn't as talented as people and the media made him out to be.
The artists that wrote, composed, produced, and played the music for MJ consisted of guys from Toto, Steely Dan, Louis Johnson from Brothers Johnson, Quincy Jones. MJ was a puppet in the music industry, and without the backup of real musicians, he would of been nothing.
Of The Wall is by far his best musical endeavor. It's a lot more raw, soulful, and funky than anything else he ever put out, including Thriller.
This is the only MJ cd worth owning as far as I'm concerned.
But I most certainly own all of Prince's cds, because Prince was (and still is) the REAL DEAL!

Editorial Reviews:

Given the pace of Michael Jackson's post-Thriller release schedule, it's striking that Off the Wall appeared between two albums with his brothers, Destiny (1978) and Triumph (1980), on which the twentysomething phenomenon was also fully engaged. Aided by richly detailed but not overdone production, Off the Wall redefined how much Michael might do.

Tracks like "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough," "Rock with You," the title cut (all Top 10 singles), and "Burn this Disco Out" not only consolidated his dance-floor power, but showed just how soulful and varied his vocals could get on uptempo material. Artistic role models like James Brown and Jackie Wilson echo through the mixes, but these were Jackson's leaps forward. The addition of pure pop confection--Paul McCartney's "Girlfriend," Stevie Wonder's "I Can't Help It"--further fleshed out the star's young-adult persona and helped make Off the Wall among the most fondly remembered of all his solo work. This special edition features two magic home demos and entertaining, insightful interviews of producer Quincy Jones and "Rock with You" composer Rod Temperton. --Rickey Wright
