Summary: Good message but...
Comment: Madame Blueberry is one of the earlier veggietales and it shows. Although this is a fairly entertaining episode and was the first to feature one of my favorite characters, a silly and vain little french Blueberry, the story is somewhat lacking. While on a buying spree at the local veggie Stuffmart, Madame learns that there are people who are grateful to God with no stuff at all. Then Madame wrecks her house by overbuying stuff and shares a meal with her less fortunate friends.
Not as creative as later veggietales and doesn't use an established bible story. The silly song is sweet, but the other two songs featured in the story are not great: one is a lackluster child's song about gratitude and the other is of the type I find questionable--a bunch of scallions singing about how important it is to have more stuff. My kids love singing Veggie songs and repeat anything they hear, so it's a little disturbing to hear them singing "all you need is much--more--stuff".
A decent overall episode but you're better off with one of the newer choices--Ballad of Little Joe, Mo and the Big Exit, Sheerluck Holmes, Minnesota Cuke.

Comment: My kids and I love these videos. I often walk around the house singing the songs from Veggie Tales. Madame Blueberry is a very funny video and has great songs in it.

Comment: Veggietales are entertaining for the whole family. We own nearly every one of them. Highly recommended.

Summary: Veggie tales commenting on over buying, great!
Comment: This teaches that happiness is not found in buying more and more things, it is about having a thankful attitude for what one does have. This is maybe for children, but as a grown up, it speaks volumes to our culture of overspending and hoarding goods, and greed. And it makes you laugh while it teaches you the lesson. Big Idea people are so creative. And I laugh because the characters don't have arms and legs but do all kinds of things anyway. How'd they do that?

Comment: This is a pleasant story but not one my son likes to watch over and over as he does the Larryboy episodes.

A new VeggieTale character is introduced in the most song-filled video yet from this Christian-lite series that promotes "Sunday morning values, and Saturday morning fun." Madame Blueberry is so blue, even her butlers (Bob and Larry, natch) can't fill her every need. But wait--the giant Stuff-Mart is just opening down the lane--promising joy to those who buy everything (a typical sales pitch: "Of course you don't need an air compressor, but don't you want one?"). Madame Blueberry will learn a hard lesson in being thankful. Bad news: "Silly Songs with Larry" has been canceled. Good news: "Love Songs with Mr. Lunt" has a whopper of a tune in its place. Note: the family picnicking near Stuff-Mart has a strong resemblance to cocreator Phil Vischer's family. --Doug Thomas
