Summary: What happened to thr rest of the movie??
Comment: Great movie and superb acting. The aircraft used was unbelieveable. The instrumental. "Aces High" was the best modern march I have ever heard. It would have been very popular back in Germany during its time. In Europe it is also known as the "Luftwaffe March".
But what happened to the rest of the movie?? There should have been atleast 20 minutes more as in the movie theaters when it first came out. Very dissaapointing especially when DVD companies seem to do this on a regular basis with movies.

The Blu-Ray "Battle of Britain".............is so clear and superb quality. Viewing the movie in the Blu-Ray format makes this part of history more profound. A history of WW II lover's delight for enjoyable viewing coupled with great audio quality.

Comment: Buyer beware! All the war movies get good ratings. Some are trash. This is phenominal. The best air battle scenes ever, combined with great writing. P.S. I DON'T want to know how they did it......I hate that. Ignorance is bliss.

Summary: Still Best Aerial Combat Movie After 40 Years
Comment: I've seen some really dumb reviews for this movie since it came on Blu-Ray. One review called it "a failure as a story". I guess a movie about the first country to stand up against Nazi aggression and Hitler's war machine to fight and stop their takeover is a failure as a story to most meat-heads these days. Nerds probably wanted it fought out by androids that are almost human armed with laser cannons and guys dressed like elves and wizards. But for me, this has to be one of the greatest stories to come out of WWII and the movie undoubtedly has the best aerial combat scenes of any movie to date from any time period. This is due to the use of as many authentic aircraft as possible and giant radio controlled monsters as they could find. Are the effects always perfect or the aircraft 100% authentic? No. But what you wind up with is the closest thing to the historical battle as we'll get without having lived it. This movie shows the key moments and events that happened as effectively as it could from both sides. It gives us a glimps into the personalities that were engaged in combat but keeps focus on the battle at hand. Yes, they had to throw in some love story for the guys at the studio, but it doesn't become a cheesy centerpiece like so many end up. It damn sure isn't Pearl Harbor (thank God), and it's not Band of Brothers, but it still remains as the top movie for air combat that I've ever seen and I recommend it to anyone interested in war birds or military history buffs.

Summary: Blu Ray Release
Comment: I'm disapointed in the Blu Ray release of this movie.
Over the years I've purchased the different format release's, VHS,DVD,Collectors Editions, etc.and was looking forward to a crisp Blu Ray high definition picture.Unfortunately it seems the studio has simply released the SD DVD version with no added features.
Compare this with the Blu Ray release of ' Patton ' which is stunning.

There's something about this film that's so irresistible, despite its grandiose manipulation. Maybe because it recounts the greatest air battle in history, achieving the greatest aerial battle in film history. Maybe because it has such a terrific cast (Harry Andrews, Michael Caine, Trevor Howard, Curt Jurgens, Laurence Olivier, Nigel Patrick, Christopher Plummer, Michael Redgrave, Ralph Richardson, Robert Shaw, Patrick Wymark, and Edward Fox). Maybe because it's so technically well-made, thanks to the Bond team of producer Harry Saltzman and director Guy Hamilton and the great cinematographer Freddie Young. Or maybe because there is something truly riveting about watching the British kick the Nazis back to Germany. --Bill Desowitz
