Summary: I was there, too!
Comment: I was in Birmingham, Alabama, and spring was blooming everywhere one day and the next, we had 16" of snow in my parking lot and no power. This was my first blizzard and would prefer it be my last. The blizzard did more tree damage than Hurricane Opal, which came straight through Alabama. Really a remarkable storm.

Summary: I was there!
Comment: This video is amazing to watch, how the whole storm came together - I had the experience of being on a Holland America cruise that was trying to enter the Tampa port - but a half hour away, they closed the port because it would have been too dangerous to come under the bridge - they sent us out to sea where our ship was tossed around like a toy boat for two days - every piece of glass or china was smashed. It was amazingly dramatic to be caught in as the bow & stern of the ship would alternate being swamped by waves and then the ship would role side to side. This video brought it all back and more!

Editorial Reviews:

The late weather forecast predicted deadly tornadoes, thunderstorms, and a record-breaking blizzard that would hit the eastern United States in one violent storm. But for some already asleep for the night, these urgent emergency warnings would go unheard. Now, witness one of this century's most catastrophic storms on its 1,200-mile journey of destruction from Florida's Gulf Coast to Canada - knocking out power in more than three million homes and taking some 270 lives. Follow one family's terrifying ordeal as a 12-foot-high storm surge ravages their weekend reunion. And be there for the dramatic rescue of students trapped by the blinding snow on a wilderness expedition in the Great Smoky Mountains. Experience these deadly forces of nature firsthand in STORM OF THE CENTURY.
