The assets of Orneta, a pioneer in wireless handheld computing applications for Windows Mobile based Smartphones and Pocket PC's, with over 200,000 combined downloads, have been acquired by a U.S. firm for an undisclosed amount.

(PRWEB) September 3, 2005 -- The assets of Orneta, a pioneer in wireless handheld computing applications for Windows Mobile based Smartphones and Pocket PC's, with over 200,000 combined downloads, have been acquired by a U.S. firm for an undisclosed amount. Orneta was founded in 2002, in Poland, then acquired by msmobiles.com in 2004, and released as freeware to the Windows Mobile community. The key technology assets will be updated and released for Windows Mobile 5.0. A new company is being formed under the familiar name, Orneta, the assets are to be re-invested into this new company.

"If we kept the ownership of Orneta, there would be no updates or upgrades to the programs,", commented msmobiles.com, "We transferred the Orneta assets, including the source code and domain name to enable updates to Windows Mobile 5.0, so that the community could continue to benefit from the Orneta brand."

Msmobiles.com, whose focus is on Windows Mobile media news was unable to maintain and update the software. With the release of Windows Mobile 5.0 by Microsoft, msmobiles.com decided to ensure the continuation of the products upon the new platform by transferring the Orneta assets. Building upon the established customer base, and application portfolio the acquisition provides a strong base for the new company. The acquisition will help to strengthen the already established Orneta brand, with support for Windows Mobile 5.0. Additional improvements, application features, and products will be added to the Orneta offerings.

The acquisition includes all software products, customer relations, and the web site presence. The new company will focus of bringing the current product line up to today's standards for world class mobile software, and increasing the product portfolio with new and innovative applications for wireless devices. The current Orneta products will continue to be provided free of charge.
