Subsidized Training for Entertainment Post Production Workers will Continue at Video Symphony in Burbank
A new two-year contract to provide subsidized upgrade digital media training to professionals employed by California studios and production companies has been awarded by the California Employment Training Panel (ETP) to Video Symphony Institute of Post Production.
(PRWEB) May 25, 2005 -- A new two-year contract to provide subsidized upgrade
digital media training to professionals employed by California studios and
production companies has been awarded by the California Employment Training
Panel (ETP) to Video Symphony Institute of Post Production.
Employees
working as video and sound editors, motion graphics artists, compositors and DVD
specialists will find many courses available to help them upgrade the digital
skills used at their companies. Avid, Pro Tools, After Effects, Final Cut Pro,
Maya and DVD Studio Pro are some of the highlights of the
training.
Eligible employers and their employees who enroll at Video
Symphony can obtain from 24 to 56 hours of subsidized training per student. They
can choose from approximately 70 different courses based on the needs of their
workplaces. Class times are flexible and may take place on weekdays, weekends
and evenings in order to accommodate busy production schedules.
Several
hundred companies and several thousand of their employees have received over
111,000 hours of cutting-edge digital training through ETP contracts with Video
Symphony since 1998.
The State of California allocates funds to ETP for
distribution to select training centers. The purpose of Video Symphony's ETP
contract is to help keep post-production and digital media companies competitive
in the technological marketplace, and to help diminish the flow of production
work to other states and nations.
Video Symphony's president, Mike
Flanagan, said, "Despite a recent reduction of ETP's resources due to California
budget cutbacks, we have been awarded this new contract because of our
successful seven-year track record with ETP and the Hollywood industry. Video
Symphony has trained thousands of California film and video editors, sound
editors, motion graphics artists and DVD specialists for industry employers
large and small since its founding in the mid-90s.
"Now, with this new
award, our present ETP clients can remain up-to-date with evolving technology,
and additional companies can afford to provide upgrade training for their
employees. Even with budget cutbacks, ETP support still provides an unparalleled
value that encourages industry employers to provide high-level professional
training for their employees at exceptionally low cost.
"ETP-funded
training continues to yield significant benefits to participating businesses, in
terms of improved product quality and greater competitiveness," according to a
recent independent evaluation of ETP. The evaluators also found that "ETP
training generated substantial earnings gains and employment stability for
trainees." (http://www.etp.ca.gov)
