Mississippi Baptist Medical Center Enhances Physician Productivity with IQMax™ Mobile Solutions
Baptist Medical Center, Jackson, MS selects IQMax’s dictation, charge capture and clinical results mobile solutions for deployment to the organizations inpatient and ambulatory care providers.
Charlotte, NC (PRWEB) August 4, 2005 -- IQMax, Inc., a leading provider of
mobile healthcare solutions announced today that Baptist Medical Center,
Jackson, MS has begun implementation of their suite of mobile solutions. With a
focus on providing information technology tools to enhance the workflow of
physicians and other care providers, Baptist Medical Center selected IQMax’s
dictation, charge capture and clinical results mobile solutions for deployment
to the organizations inpatient and ambulatory care providers. During the initial
implementation IQMax has established continuous data delivery from and to
multiple disparate healthcare systems. These systems include McKesson STAR,
McKesson Horizon Meds Manager, McKesson Horizon Care Manager, SCC Softpath,
ACCU-CHEK and MedQuist DocQment Enterprise Platform.
By necessity,
physicians and other care provider’s patient care services requires anywhere,
anytime access to clinical information and the tools to document patient
encounters. Since Baptist’s medical staff had widely adopted personal digital
assistants (PDAs) for patient care applications including drug reference,
patient consultation guides and dosage calculators, the organization looked to
extend the value of the PDA by populating the providers PDAs with patient census
lists and outpatient schedules through the IQMax IQAnywhere mobile enterprise
platform. From the patient list, providers will be able to simply tap on the
patient name to view clinical results, dictate the results of the patient
encounter and capture procedure and evaluation and management codes to
efficiently document the results of the encounter.
Compared to previous
solutions available to accomplish the same tasks, providers are recognizing
significant enhancements to their work flow. The patient care reports require
fewer edits since patient demographic data accompanies the dictated report to
the backend dictation/transcription system. Fewer edits and more detailed
recordings result in improved turnaround and enhanced patient
care.
“Having my census list on my PDA serves as a work list,” states Dr.
Teri Dyess. “I used to wait until I had completed my rounds before dictating the
results of my patient encounters. This delay resulted in slower transcription
turnaround and less detail in my reports. I now dictate right after I have seen
the patient so when I finish my rounds, my dictation is also completed. Reports
get on the chart quicker and the detail serves to enhance patient care and
improve the coding of my services.”
The Baptist medical staff will
scribble E&M codes and procedures on loose pieces of paper in order to
document patient visits that required billing in their clinics. Providing them
an electronic charge capture solution will improve their revenue cycle by
allowing them to quickly document the patient visits and electronically transfer
these data points to their billing personnel.
“The IQRounds clinical
results application will provide not only a patient centric view of clinical
data but additionally the ability to view results based on critical alerts,”
says Paul Adkison, CEO of IQMax. “Our customers wanted a mobile solution that
met their work flow requirements and IQRounds delivers this functionality and
more.”
