London, UK (PRWEB) September 16, 2005 -- BigHand has been awarded the coveted
'Highly Commended' status in this year's National Business Awards 2005 "Best Use
of Technology" category. Only five companies in the UK were given the honor,
which is given to those companies who judges wish to single out for special
praise, but who just missed out on the national final. The ‘Best Use of
Technology Award’ is judged on businesses that:
"Best demonstrate that it
has effectively used business technology to create a significant and exploitable
competitive or operational advantage in any business area including revenue,
improved quality and/or customer convenience. Evidence is required of a well
thought-through and executed strategy, addressing not only the deployment of the
technology, but also its effective uptake by employees and
stakeholders."
The aim of the National Business Awards is to reward and
recognize excellence, best practice and innovation throughout the UK business
community. Judges look for evidence of three guiding principles in all
categories: commercial success, innovation in performance improvement, and
ethics in respect of legislation, regulation, the environment and the rights of
all stakeholders.
The National Business Awards attract intense interest
reflecting the fact that the program is the first of its kind to cater for all
business sector categories and organizations of all sizes, from the achievements
of new ventures to FTSE 100s. The 10 companies that now go on to the overall
national final of the "Best Use of Technology Award" category include:
-
ASDA
- AstraZeneca UKMC
- British Airways plc
- Camelot Group plc
-
Chase De Vere Financial Solutions plc
- Royal Bank of Scotland
David
Fryer, Chief Operating Officer at BigHand, commented:
"We are delighted
that both the quality & design of our software, as well as recent investment
in our customer service IT infrastructure, has been recognized in this way. If
you look at some of the huge multi-national companies who made the national
final, then our achievement in gaining Highly Commended status is all the more
striking. We know that the combination of innovative, reliable, market leading
software together with seamless client service is what those purchasing
technology demand – and I think this has been key to our success to
date."
