Layer 7 Technologies Demonstrates Federated Web Services Security At Annual RSA Show
Standards-based integration between IBM Tivoli Federated Identity Manager and Layer 7 SecureSpan Products enables distributed Web services security.
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) February 17, 2005 -- Layer 7 Technologies announced
today that it is demonstrating a WS-Trust based integration between the
SecureSpan suite of Web services security products and IBM Tivoli’s Federated
Identity Manager. The result is a practical showcase for inter-department and
inter-company federated Web services security. The demonstration will take place
at the RSA Conference 2005 in the IBM booth #742.
Integrating Web
services across identity boundaries requires an ability to generate, exchange
and enforce security tokens providing evidence of authentication, across
departments and platforms. IBM Tivoli Federated Identity Manager enables
organizations to transparently generate standards based security tokens in one
identity domain for use in another domain. The SecureSpan Bridge automatically
embeds these security tokens into Web services messages without additional
programming. The SecureSpan Gateway then validates these tokens and ensures
messages are conformant before forwarding to back-end services. The combination
of IBM Tivoli's Federated Identity Management, SecureSpan Bridge and SecureSpan
Gateway give organizations an easy to deploy solution for generating, exchanging
and enforcing Web services security across identity boundaries.
“Layer 7
is committed to providing Web services security products for our customers while
ensuring interoperability with critical infrastructure and standards,” said
Toufic Boubez, CTO of Layer 7 Technologies. “IBM Tivoli is a both a leader in
contributing to key Web services standards and is leader in implementing solid
identity and management products based on these standards.”
“The security
enforcement and coordination provided by SecureSpan solves a real need in Web
services.” said Anthony Nadalin, Distinguished Engineer and Chief Security
Architect, Tivoli Software, IBM. “Combined with the federation and policy
management capabilities of Federated Identity Manager, the result is the type of
integrated security and policy management required for Service Oriented
Architectures.”
