September 10 to September 14 2005: Golden Horseshoe Marathon Prepares for 212 KM - 5 Day Marathon
Wheel Chair Athletes with the Golden Horseshoe Marathon will make a 5 day, 212 km trak from Niagara Falls, Ontario to the Provincial Parliament buildings at Queen's Park in Toronto, Ontario, to raise money and awareness for Spinal Regeneration Research at McMaster University.
Hamilton, Ontario (PRWEB) July 13, 2005 -- Since the year 1999, the Golden
Horseshoe Marathon has raised funds to support various organizations such as
McMaster University, the Canadian Paraplegic Association and the Hamilton
Resource Centre.
Now, our goal this year is to raise $500,000 for Spinal
Cord Regeneration Research at McMaster University and Hamilton Health
Science.
Dr. Michel Rathbone and his team of researchers at McMaster
University are very close to a breakthrough in stem cell research using stem
cells from the bowel which can help regenerate new cell growth.
This
research can benefit spinal cord injuries and other neurological
diseases.
However, in order to help fund the progress of this very costly
and important research, the Golden Horseshow Marathon is at it again, raising
money for the benefit of the community and people with spinal cord injuries and
other neurological diseases to gain independence.
We need your help to
make a dream turn into reality by supporting this year’s Golden Horseshoe
Marathon during their 5 consecutive Marathon days completing 42.5 km each
day.
Golden Horseshoe Marathon Schedule:
•Day 1:
Niagara Falls to Virgil Town Hall
•Day 2: Virgil to Lincoln Town Hall
•Day
3: Lincoln Town Hall to McMaster University in Hamilton
•Day 4: Hamilton
