Ardent Concepts, Inc. Unveils Redundant Contact™ Architecture at BiTS Workshop, Releases New Website With Details On IP
New High Speed Compliant Interconnect Technology delivers exceptional RF performance for device connection.
Hampton Beach, NH (PRWEB) April 7, 2005 -- Ardent Concepts Founder and
President Gordon Vinther presented the details on Redundant Contact™ technology
during the Burn-in and Test Socket Workshop in Mesa, AZ in March, unveiling the
architecture and physical properties of this robust new compliant interconnect
technology to the general public for the first time.
“Since first
developing the Redundant Contact™ for high-speed IC testing applications, we
have proceeded very cautiously in sharing data on the architecture and material
make-up of our contact solution,” Vinther said. “Now that the patent has been
issued on the Redundant Contact™ and we have a strong base of customers in
production with our solution, we have decided to reveal the salient
characteristics of our system to the general public.”
The Redundant
Contact™ is a single wire form with a patented coil geometry that provides
excellent electrical characteristics and is robust enough for most compliant
connector applications. More information on the geometry and design is available
at Ardent’s website, www.ardentconcepts.com
“Since our technology has proven
to provide robust performance characteristics in production environments, it
seems natural to offer the solution across broader market segments,” said
Vinther. “There are many applications where Redundant Contact™ technology can be
used as a drop in replacement for spring probes, fuzz buttons or conductive
elastomers. We are already providing contacts to customers for
military/aerospace applications, and see great potential in automotive,
telecommunications and high-end computing. The excellent reliability and
unmatched AC performance of the Redundant Contact™ make it an ideal solution for
any surface mount requirement.”
Redundant Contacts™ are available from
Ardent in quantities of 50-500K pieces immediately. The company provides
detailed instructions and design assistance. Custom designs are available. Since
inception, Ardent Concepts has focused on the emerging package technologies
dominating the wireless device space. With insertion loss of 24 GHz at less than
-1dB and 30 GHz at less than -3dB, the Redundant Contact™ is well suited for
testing and mating of RF parts for consumer electronics, LAN/WAN, and wireless
(WiFi) applications.
An Innovative Interconnect firm, Ardent Concepts
headquarters are in Hampton Beach, New Hampshire with sales offices worldwide.
