Directory Assistance Has New Ring to It with Free Service
A new service, 1-800-LISTING®, needs savvy investors as they aim to become the undisputed leader in directory assistance. Their patent-eligible technology will match consumers with advertisers in a revolutionary way
Santa Rosa, Calif. (PRWEB via PR Web
Direct) August 11, 2005 -- Alexander Graham Bell changed the world in 1876
when he discovered the telephone, inspiring dozens of related technologies in
the future with his words: “Leave the beaten track occasionally and dive into
the woods. … All really big discoveries are the result of thought.”
One
of the latest developments to enhance telecommunications for both businesses and
consumers has been created by 1-800-LISTING®. The system offers advertisers a
new frontier for reaching an untapped market and gives the public free access to
directory assistance.
More than three years after its creation, the Pay
Per Play – Target Advertising – Directory Assistance system is under review by
the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office. With this patent in the develop stage,
the company 1-800-LISTING® – which has a proven track record with its
trademarked Vanity 800 number invention – is currently seeking investors or a
buyer.
For consumers, the PPPTADA system was created to combat exorbitant
directory assistance charges that can range from 35 cents to $1.25 per call. For
businesses, the system offers a unique marketing advantage with its ability to
target a specific audience.
One of the key features of the system is its
simplicity. When a consumer calls 1-800-LISTING® instead of 411 or 555-1212,
they receive directory assistance for no charge. When a number is requested by
the caller, a 10-second pre-recorded message of a related business will play
while the system searches for the number. For example, if a caller asks for
American Airlines, they will hear a message from a company targeting that
industry, such as United or Southwest Airlines. The caller then has the option
to be transferred to the particular advertiser by pressing 1, or hold to receive
the requested listing.
“The system will replace 411 and paid directory
assistance because it’s free.” says Scott Wolmuth, owner and founder of
1-800-LISTING®. “And equally important … the ads played will be required to be
ads that bring value to the consumer. Ads with special sales, special offers,
guarantees and new offers. These are the two reasons we’ll replace the directory
assistance model and eventually license our PPPTADA to the Baby
Bells.”
Wolmuth developed 1-800-LISTING® originally to help fellow real
estate professionals establish better communication with clients. The shared-use
technology of the toll-free vanity 800 numbers gives busy professionals
increased market presence and higher profits. It’s Wolmuth’s intention to
replace this current use of 1-800-LISTING®, expanding the potential of this
technology in order to serve the greater good for the consumer and help
businesses thrive.
