Newtown, PA (PRWEB) July 9, 2004 -- Lantica Software announces the
availability of Sesame Database Manager 1.0 for Windows and Linux, the company's
flagship product in the database management market.
Sesame is a database
management program specifically geared to small business and corporate
departments. In a market dominated by application development tools designed for
consultants, Sesame offers powerful and flexible database tools designed for
users, business owners and independent workers.
Originally conceived as a
replacement product for Symantec Q&A, Sesame is a logical migration path for
those still using Q&A. It has the ability to translate Q&A 4.0/5.0 for
DOS and Q&A for Windows databases into Sesame applications. Q&A users
will find that Sesame uses many of the same keystrokes, search syntaxes and
programming language commands as Q&A.
Sesame is a cross-platform
product which runs on Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP and on Linux (Intel). Rather
than porting between platforms, Sesame is simultaneously developed on both
Windows and Linux. This combined with a true client-server architecture allows
you to mix-and-match Windows and Linux clients and servers at will, giving you
the flexibility to experiment with different operating systems, and to make the
best choice for your workstations, servers and web servers without changing your
database package.
A free trial version is available for evaluation at http://www.sesamedatabase.com. Sesame's trial version has no
time limit on the software itself. Databases built with the trial version
"expire" after 30 days. Once a database expires, installing the release version
of Sesame fully reactivates it. A single-user copy of Sesame with full
client/server capability retails for $249.00 USD. Additional client license
pricing depends on volume.
Sesame features more than 800 pages of
documentation and tutorials provided as high-quality printed manuals, as well as
in PDF format. Technical support is available through several channels,
including telephone, online and a peer-to-peer Support Forum. Recent Sesame
updates include the addition of powerful new programming features to the
integrated programming language, as well as a built-in popup Calendar.
Evaluation copy and screen shots available upon request.
Lantica
Software, LLC is an alliance of consultants and software developers formed for
the purpose of developing a migration product for users of Symantec Q&A,
which would also be able to serve the overall needs of the small business
database user community.
