PeerSec Networks LLC, a leading provider of secure device management software, announced today the release of MatrixSSL 1.0, a dual-licensed Secure Sockets Layer (SSL/TLS) implementation unique in the embedded marketplace. MatrixSSL allows devices to communicate securely over the Internet with a memory footprint of less than 50 KB.
Bellevue, WA (PRWEB) April 8, 2004 -- PeerSec Networks LLC, a leading
provider of secure device management software, announced today the release of
MatrixSSL 1.0, a dual-licensed Secure Sockets Layer (SSL/TLS) implementation
unique in the embedded marketplace.
"PeerSec is focused on providing
solutions for secure device management", said J Harper, CEO of PeerSec Networks.
"Our embedded SSL library, MatrixSSL, enables standards based network security
on even the smallest device. Current implementations of SSL are too large for
the embedded market. MatrixSSL enables an entirely new class of devices to ship
with a full security implementation. The compact footprint of MatrixSSL frees up
a considerable amount of resources for new functionality in embedded
devices."
MatrixSSL is less than 50 KB including cipher suites. The
product includes TLS and SSLv3 client and server support, X.509 certificate
authentication, fast session resumption, and implementations of RSA, AES, 3DES,
ARC4, SHA1, and MD5.
MatrixSSL is not dependent on any specific
transport layer, operating system, or hardware configuration. It is designed to
allow straightforward integration with existing applications without threading,
sockets or file system constraints. MatrixSSL includes sample client and server
applications. PeerSec Networks also offers custom integration services if
customers have additional security requirements.
MatrixSSL is available
now under either an open source GPL license or a royalty free commercial license
to maximize the adoption of security in devices. The GPL license allows open
source projects to freely incorporate MatrixSSL into their application. The
royalty free commercial license is available for purchase and allows proprietary
projects to incorporate MatrixSSL. The commercial license includes the
government standardized Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) cipher and IETF
ratified Transport Layer Security (TLS) as well as Quick Start Integration
support and security updates. A free download of MatrixSSL is available on the
open source project site at http://www.matrixssl.org
