Iowa Schools Create Internet Radio Network For Sports Broadcasts and Activities Info Using Meridix Broadcast Producer
Meridix Creative, Inc. and SchoolWebRadio have partnered to create a school webcast and information network throughout southwest Iowa. The network will enable live mobile webcast, event dissemination, news publishing, and announcement technology in the region's high schools.
(PRWEB) September 3, 2004 -- Students, parents, and fans will be able to
access live high school sports, activities, and school information on the
internet thanks to a new webcast network in southwest Iowa. Meridix Creative,
Inc. and SchoolWebRadio today completed an agreement to enable live broadcast,
event dissemination, news publishing, and announcement technology in the
region's high schools.
Using the Meridix Broadcast Producer software, the
schools will have the ability to broadcast their own sports and activities live
on the internet, as well as having them available for on-demand playback later.
They will also be able to easily publish news stories, schedules, RSS feeds, and
display important announcements to the entire school community. With Meridix
"related events" technology, the schools will be able to share scores, event
information, and audio across their websites without having to manually update
web pages. In addition, the schools stressed that the radio network gives
students an additional advantage in allowing them to have valuable broadcast
experience.
"Our SchoolWebRadio network premieres this fall with 5 member
schools," said Chuck Morris, administrator of SchoolWebRadio and a host on
Iowa's KMA AM Radio. "The primary purpose is to enhance our already strong
relationships with schools, while providing them with an opportunity to explore
curriculum opportunities that may not be available without our
partnership."
Some of the schools participating in the new internet
broadcast network include AHST High School of Avoca, Bedford High School of
Bedford, Kuemper Catholic High School of Carroll, Riverside High School of
Oakland, and Shenandoah High School of Shenandoah, Iowa. The system is funded
mainly by local advertisers and radio stations.
The partnership announced
today expands the Meridix's reach into school sports and broadcasting. Meridix
also has relationships with Minnesota Twins affiliate Thunder Bay Border Cats,
Puerto Rican (BSNPR) national basketball team Capitanes de Arecibo, Spanish
music label KnifeMusic, prep websites, and various radio stations.
