CyberLearning Launches Program to Train a Million IT Workers in India
Innovative national program to bridge the Digital Divide in India inaugurated to provide digital literacy education and certification for a million Indians.

digital education,just announced the inauguration of the IC3 digital literacy
program in the Indian state of Kerala for providing training and globally
accepted IT certification for 15,000 students and adults. Its program partners
are its Indian subsidiary www.cyberlearningindia.com and Reliance WebWorlds.
The
Kerala program was inaugurated by Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on August
3, 2005 at an impressive ceremony at the state capital.
The program,
funded 50% by Kerala Government and 50% by CyberLearning-Reliance WebWorld
partnership, will be available through Kerala Government C-DIT’s 500-plus
education partners spread across the State. The students will take online IC3
certification exams at 18 high-speed state-of-the-art Reliance WebWorlds located
throughout Kerala. The certification tests are administered by Certiport,
Utah-based Certification Company that also provides certifications globally for
Microsoft Office.

bridge the global digital divide in developing countries," said Dr. Appu Kuttan,
CyberLearning Chairman, a global digital education leader and author of the
acclaimed recent book, "From Digital Divide to Digital Opportunity." Dr. Kuttan,
who has been an advisor to many World leaders including India’s Rajiv Gandhi,
added, "The Kerala project is a giant step towards bridging the digital divide
in India. We hope to replicate this project in other Indian states and other
developing countries."
