What Do you Get when you Hire an Event Planner with an MBA, and over 15 Years of Corporate Experience? You Get The Perfect Date
Event Planner Cheryl Lawson, CEO and founder of The Perfect Date, Inc brings her corporate experience to the world of event planning.
(PRWEB) June 14, 2005 -- After 10 years with General Motors and six years
with Fleetwood Enterprises, the worlds largest RV manufacturer, Cheryl Lawson
decided to take her background in sales, customer service, and marketing to the
ever growing profession of event planning.
“As with most planners,
becoming a professional event planner was more of a calling than a strategically
planned career track, said Lawson. “I was first exposed to event planning while
at General Motors. As a member of the annual Daytona 500® event team for
Pontiac, we did everything from cleaning the driver intro cars to arranging
accommodations for the arriving executives. That experience taught me about
logistics, VIP and celebrity interaction, brand awareness through event
marketing, and most important, crisis management”.
Lawson was soon
recruited by Fleetwood Enterprises where she spent two years as one of the
company’s top product trainers. Lawson was often asked to coordinate NASCAR®
events, and corporate meetings for the top sales people in the northwest. She
was quickly promoted to Marketing Manager for Fleetwood’s RV group. In that
capacity Lawson set up a national training tour that is today unsurpassed in the
RV industry.
They say you can’t escape your destiny, and Cheryl knew she
was most happy when she was planning and organizing strategic marketing events.
The Perfect Date, Inc was established in 2000, and has grown its client base
each year. Ultrafabrics, Weichert Relocation, Safety Source Productions, and the
pro sports dance organization, ProDance, are among The Perfect Date’s satisfied
customers.
“After so many years of working with fortune 500 companies,”
Lawson explained, “ I have recognized one constant, People like doing business
with people whom they share social experiences”.
Last November was a
prime example of this theory. The Perfect Date coordinated an event for
Ultrafabrics LLC, a major manufacturer of synthetic leathers. The event was held
just before a major industry convention. “The party was really the talk of the
convention floor,” says Danielle Boecker –Primak, director of sales and
marketing at Ultrafabrics. “It provided the best start to the event, we were
able to interact with our customers in a relaxed and fun environment. We brought
our team from New York since many of our customers had not met them personally.
There was a real spirit of bonhomie and camaraderie on the convention floor over
the next few days. Those who missed the party even heard about it from someone
who attended. We couldn’t have pulled it off without The Perfect
Date.”
“The Perfect Date prides itself on being a different kind of Event
Company”, Lawson stated. “We know what it takes to pull off a flawless event,
and most importantly; we understand the real business rational for an event.
It’s not just throwing a party. It’s molding brand impressions, motivating
employees, capturing consumer share of mind and a host of other strategic
impressions.
The Perfect Date has instituted a new internship program to
assist college students from the Riverside, CA area who are considering event
planning as a career. “Many colleges are beginning to offer event planning
curriculums, but it is slow to spread nation wide Lawson pointed out. “I am
committed to do my part to move the event planning to the forefront of strategic
marketing plans for large and small businesses”.
