Palo Alto, CA (PRWEB) May 6, 2005 -- Data Domain®, the leader in
next-generation data protection solutions, today announced that Paramit Corp.
has deployed Data Domain DD200 Restorer recovery appliances and Replicator
software to manage the backup and recovery of its mission-critical data. The
Data Domain disk-based solution has enabled Paramit, a provider of specialized
electronic manufacturing services, to eliminate its day-to-day tape backups –
and replicate data inexpensively over the WAN.
Morgan Hill, Calif.-based
Paramit Corp. provides fully integrated manufacturing and test services to
leading OEMs in the semiconductor, telecommunications, networking, medical and
other high-technology industries. Paramit is using the Data Domain appliances to
back up ERP data, home directories, and a Microsoft Exchange data store,
reducing backup and restore windows by up to 75%, and dramatically reducing
costs. In addition, Data Domain Replicator software and Global Compression
technology are enabling Paramit to replicate data to a remote site using minimal
network bandwidth, significantly reducing the company’s reliance on offsite tape
vault storage.
"Before going tapeless, data restores were a huge ordeal.
Thanks to Data Domain, I was able to cut restore times from several hours to one
hour, which made my end-user customer audience very, very happy," said Eritara
Tito Bira, Network Systems Manager, Paramit Corp. "As long as the DD200 is
around, we are not bringing tape back to our environment. It is an excellent
device and it should be part of every IT department's disaster
recovery."
According to Bira, the ability to restore data rapidly and
reliably is critical to maintaining staff productivity when recovering from disk
or application failures. Since implementing the Data Domain solution, Paramit
has realized data compression ratios of 20x, allowing the IT team to keep up to
12 weeks of data online and ready for rapid restores. Additionally, Data Domain
Replicator software has become an essential part of Paramit’s Disaster Recovery
and Business Continuation planning by enabling efficient, reliable replication
over the WAN.
“Paramit is taking full advantage of Data Domain Restorer
and Replicator together – eliminating day-to-day tape backups and keeping
offsite tape storage to a minimum,” said Frank Slootman, president and CEO, Data
Domain. “We understand how important quality, integrity and customer
satisfaction are to Paramit and we’re pleased that they have selected Data
Domain to meet their most demanding data protection requirements.”
