Embedded Planet Announces Immediate Availability of RFID Reader Kit
Kit Includes a Single Board Computer Based on a Freescale PowerQUICC™ I Processor, a PCMCIA Firmware Upgradeable RFID Reader, and Embedded Linux
Cleveland, OH (PRWEB) June 23, 2005 -- Embedded Planet, a leading single
board computer and embedded systems provider, today announced immediate
availability of a compact low cost RFID Reader Kit that can easily be expanded
into a production environment. The newly launched RFID Reader Kit includes a
single board computer based on the Freescale Semiconductor PowerQUIC™ I family
of processors, a PCMCIA RFID Reader module, and a Linux board support package
and sample RFID application. The kit is designed to allow OEMs to rapidly
prototype RFID applications and seamlessly move the prototypes into
production.
“The market for RFID solutions is starting to explode and
Embedded Planet’s RFID development kit provides customers with an open platform
for rapidly developing and deploying RFID applications that are only limited by
their imaginations,” said Matt Hoover, Embedded Planet Vice President of Sales
and Marketing. “The RFID Kit is a perfect demonstration of the power of our
computing platforms and the completeness of our offerings.”
The Embedded
Planet RFID Kit includes one of Embedded Planet’s single board computers based
on Freescale’s PowerQUICC I family of processors, a PCMCIA RFID reader engine,
Embedded Linux, and a sample Linux application for the reader engine. The single
board computer can be configured with up to 64MB of flash, 128MB of RAM, up to
two 10/100 Ethernet ports, up to two RS-232 serial ports, and up to two PCMCIA
slots.
The RFID Reader Engine is available in two configurations, one
with an integral antenna for handheld and short-range read operation and another
with connectors for external antennas for longer read range applications. The
reader engine is firmware upgradeable to ensure compatibility with future RFID
standards. Our team will work with you and our partners to help define an
appropriate solution for both development and production environments. In
addition through our partners we can provide RFID training programs to help
accelerate the development and deployment of RFID solutions.
The Embedded
Planet RFID Reader kit is available immediately and is carried as a stock item
for quick turn shipment. As with all Embedded Planet Products, the RFID Reader
Kit can be customized to meet OEM requirements.
