Perspector V2.3: New Presentation Ideas with 3D-enabled PowerPoint
The latest version of the Perspector 3D add-in for PowerPoint highlights new ease-of-use features such as the ‘Perspector Library’ that users access from an assistant panel. Selecting one of the ready-made images causes it to appear in the PowerPoint slide. After that, users can enter the 3D space and modify the images infinitely. Short videos show how the imported image can be quickly changed and a video demonstration of Perspector can be viewed from http://www.perspector.com/tour.html
(PRWEB) June 24, 2005 -- Visual Exemplars has launched the latest version of
its Perspector™ 3D add-in for PowerPoint, with many new ease-of-use
features.
Adrian Doyle, CEO of Visual Exemplars said: “Customers were
telling us that Perspector is a great product but they had the impression it was
going to take too long to learn to use. It was a step too far to work up a
dramatic 3D image with Perspector after spending considerable time putting their
PowerPoint presentations together. We have therefore changed Perspector to make
it very easy for people to import and adapt ready-made images to start them
off.”
He was referring to the ‘Perspector Library’ which users access
from an assistant panel. Selecting a ready-made image from a series of
thumbnails causes it to appear in the PowerPoint slide. Short videos are
available from the same panel to show how the imported image can be quickly
modified.
A video demonstration of these Perspector features can be
viewed from: http://www.perspector.com/tour.html
The team behind
Perspector are part of the growing community that believes audiences deserve
more than the usual diet of bullet-pointed slides. Many presenters are now
rethinking their approach and rediscovering that an appropriate image is indeed
worth a thousand words. However, PowerPoint is a two-dimensional medium and,
until the Perspector add-in came along, it was difficult for presenters to
illustrate complex relationships between ideas in a simple way. The use of 3D
and animated images is powerful as they come closer to connecting the viewer
with the real world.
Microsoft’s PowerPoint Most Valuable Professional
(MVP) Geetesh Bajaj in a review of Perspector said “I have to admit that I love
Perspector. It allows me to play with the third dimension inside PowerPoint and
it actually is so much fun to work with.”
Perspector allows users to draw
within a ‘3D space’ behind the screen. Using Perspector it is now possible to
work with three-dimensional cubes, spheres, comes, pyramids and many other
shapes, and combine them in ways that add meaning.
New features:
New
features of Perspector V2.3 include an assistant panel that:
• walks users
through common tasks
• makes it easy to select and insert the ready-made
library image slides
• contains mini video tutorials that show how to work
with Perspector
• allows Professional Edition users to preview slide layout
templates
There are Standard and Professional editions of Perspector. For
the first time, Version 2.3 enables people to try the features of both editions
before they buy.
People who want to try Perspector can download a trial
version from http://www.perspector.com/free_download.cfm. After 30 days,
edited Perspector images are overlaid with a ‘watermark’ that is removed when a
license is purchased. Existing customers can upgrade to the new version free of
charge.
Notes for editors:
1) The first version of Perspector was
released in May 2004. Visual Exemplars Ltd is an Edinburgh-based software house
whose mission is to improve graphics for the ordinary business user.
2) A
video demonstration of Perspector can be viewed from:
http://www.perspector.com/tour.html
3) Main differences
between the editions of Perspector are that, whilst people can import library
slides and draw 3D shapes with the Standard Edition, the Professional Edition
makes it possible to bring images of slides from another part of a presentation
and lay them out in another slide to show relationships between them.
4)
MVP Geetesh Bajaj’s review of Perspector can be read on his on-line magazine
‘Indezine’
http://www.indezine.com/products/powerpoint/addin/perspector.html.
However, the current review is based on an old version of Perspector. We will be
approaching him to request an update.
5) A ‘PowerPoint Article Resource’
file is available from a hidden page on the Perspector website. It is offered as
a source of inspiration to journalists who wish to write about PowerPoint in
general. The download address is: http://www.perspector.com/journalists.cfm
6) Business
or computer magazine editors who wish to download the install_Perspector.exe
file from the Perspector website and distribute the trial version on cover disk
are welcome to do so without further reference to Visual Exemplars. However, if
we know about intended distributions we can offer some tailored text.
