Win a WPT Seat Without Having to win a Tournament

A national poker league has a been formed that will be giving recreational players a number of opportunities to win a seat in a World Poker Tour or Plaza Ultimate Poker Challenge tournament. They qualify by participating in no limit hold em tournaments either locally in their community or online.

(PRWEB) February 16, 2005 -- With the explosive popularity of no limit hold ‘em poker today there are millions of players that dream of having the success that Chris Moneymaker or Greg Raymer have had in the past two years of the World Series of Poker. But to get there you either had to win a satellite or online tournament, no easy task, or fork over the thousands of dollars to pay the entry fee, an even harder task for most of us. Well now there is an easier and much less expensive way to get there.

Frustrated by the immensely difficult task of defeating a thousand plus players in an online tournament in order to get a WPT seat, Alex Bungener took his APA league franchise ownership experience plus his online and home game no limit hold ‘em tournament experience and created a one of a kind program that allows the recreational poker player to get a seat in a major no limit hold ‘em tournament.

The American Amateur Poker League, AAPL, gives its members many opportunities to get a tournament seat in a WPT event of their choice or a Plaza Ultimate Poker Challenge seat on the date of their choice. Members do this by competing in no limit hold ‘em tournaments either online or locally at a home game, fraternity, fraternal lodge or bar/restaurant sponsored tournament. “We will be running many qualifiers throughout the year” remarked Alex. “Not only can you get a WPT or UPC seat by finishing at or near the top during the qualifier, but there will also be numerous times when we will also just draw a name out of the hat!”

The qualifier is not a single tournament, but rather a ranking of the players based on how they finish in each of the twenty or so tournaments that they participated in during the qualifying time period.

There are two separate leagues, one for online single or multi table tournaments and another for any local tournament that is not held in a casino. As the league membership grows so will the number of seats given out each year. Costs are really minimal. Membership is $10 or $11 a month or $100 a year and then each competitor pays AAPL 10% of the portion of the tournament entry fee that goes into the prize pool.

“Our goal is to have at least one member in every WPT and UPC tournament each year. We also want to give away scholarships to various poker training programs” explained Alex. “But in order to accomplish that, we need to grow our membership base, so we are running a promotion right now. The next 100 people that sign up will get their first three months membership for free and be in their own UPC qualifier. We feel our web site explains everything, but if anyone has any questions at all they can either call or email us.”
