Wireless Extenders Announces Nationwide Release of New Cell Phone Signal Booster
Wireless Extenders today announced the nationwide availability of the Wireless Extender cell phone signal booster, following positive test market results.
(PRWEB) April 28, 2005 -- Wireless Extenders today announced the nationwide
availability of the Wireless Extender cell phone signal booster, following
positive test market results.
“We have introduced this product to many
distribution partners, retailers and PCS carriers, and the interest has been
extraordinary,” said Lloyd Meese, President and CEO of Wireless Extenders. “Now
customers who have been frustrated by the lack of wireless coverage in their
homes have an affordable solution.”
Designed to improve in-building cell
phone reception for PCS (1850-1990 MHz) frequency users, the Wireless Extender
booster uses an outdoor- or attic-mounted antenna to capture the PCS signal
outside, and coaxial cable to run the signal to the indoor base unit. The base
unit, which contains a small omni directional indoor antenna, amplifies the
signal to cover approximately 2,500 square feet, depending on outdoor signal
strength and building construction.
“I use it myself,” said Jerry
Chapman, owner of SolidSignal.com, a Michigan-based retailer. “I needed a
product for my steel-walled office and, when the distributor I use started
carrying them, I tried this one out. It was fantastic – I was shocked. I put it
on our web site and we’ve been selling them like crazy.”
As seen with Mr.
Chapman, in-building reception issues affect consumers in both homes and
offices. "At the beginning of 2005, there were approximately 180 million
wireless subscribers in the US, with about one third of the subscribers having
some coverage issues,” Meese said. “This puts the addressable market at
approximately 54 million subscribers. The problem will get worse as carriers
introduce higher speed networks.” Wireless Extenders’ consumer test markets,
particularly with Small Office Home Office (SOHO) buyers, have affirmed the
signal coverage issue.
In addition to positive consumer response, the
product’s pre-release elicited favorable feedback from wireless carrier
networks. “From a technical perspective, we were very careful to design the unit
to protect the carriers’ networks,” said Michael Rodgers, CTO and founder.
Specifically, one of the patent-pending design features works to prevent
oscillation, thereby helping the carrier networks and enhancing coverage
areas.
The Wireless Extender cell phone signal booster is FCC and
Industry Canada certified. Nationwide installation is available. For more
