(PRWEB) June 16, 2005 -- SEA is Open for Business. The Supplier Excellence
Alliance (SEA) announces its national rollout schedule for its industry-wide
conversion effort. Why is this effort so important? According to Ken Marcia of
United Technologies, and President of SEA:
“It amazes me that most
Aerospace and Defense suppliers don’t fully and aggressively embrace Lean. The
industry is changing. It’s a question of survival. I don’t know how a supplier
will ever maintain or grow market share without Lean. Our greatest challenge in
SEA is convincing suppliers that this statement is true.”
Tom Plungis, of
Lockheed Martin, and Vice President of SEA, adds:
“Our industry is
suffering from ‘crossfire.’ We have many fine resources helping us to implement
lean. The problem is that each has a different terminology, a different roadmap,
and a different focus. And the question is, at the end of the day, will we all
wind up in the same place?”
The SEA Lean Enterprise System (LES) has been
developed to address these two concerns. It’s a collaborative model adopted by
SEA members – the leading aerospace and defense primes. It’s a business system
that leverages lean across a supplier organization’s entire enterprise. It’s the
definitive roadmap that gets all suppliers heading in the same direction and
aligned with the new, emerging needs of the new supply chain.
SEA will
provide conversion assistance in 20 states by the end of 2006. Supplier outreach
will take place through Executive Briefings, available in each state. For more
