Dugway Proving Ground Boosts Chemical and Biological Weapons Defense Systems Testing Capabilities With Addition of Electrophysics® Jade VLWIR Cameras
Jade VLWIR cameras will be used to track, study and analyze the behavior of clouds of gas.
Fairfield, NJ (PRWEB) May 5, 2005 -- The Dugway Proving Ground, controlled by
the United States Army Test Command (TECOM), recently outfitted its chemical and
biological weapons defense testing equipment with the first of potentially
multiple Electrophysics Jade VLWIR cameras. The Jade cameras will be used at the
Dugway facility to track and analyze the behavior of clouds of gas, ultimately
providing US Government and Military personnel the ability to prepare and
respond in the event of chemical or biological warfare.
The mission of
Dugway is to test US and Allied biological and chemical defense systems, perform
Nuclear Biological Chemical survivable testing of defense material, provide
support to chemical and biological weapons conventions and operate and maintain
an installation to support test missions. Dugway is located approximately 80
miles west-southwest of Salt Lake City, Utah, in Tooele County.
“Electrophysics is proud to support the mission of the United States
Army Dugway Proving Ground.,” said Chris Alicandro, Director of Sales for
Electrophysics. “With the widest spectral response available on the market,
ranging from 7.7µm to 11.0 µm, the Jade VLWIR will vastly improve Dugway’s
testing abilities, giving them a significant advantage in the analysis of target
signatures and other experiments in the long wavelength spectrum.”
The
Jade VLWIR incorporates a high QE 320x256 Mercury Cadmium Telluride (MCT) focal
plane array, state-of–the-art 14-bit digital electronics and frame rates up to
240+ frames per second in full frame mode and 6000 frames per second in
sub-windowing mode. In addition, the Jade VLWIR features a RS-422 digital
interface, compatible with Altair, a powerful, real time, image capture thermal
analysis system. The Jade systems will eventually replace older mechanical scan
based systems.
