today announced that sixteen finalists in the 4th Annual Star Wars Fan Film
Awards are now available for online viewing and voting at http://starwars.atomfilms.com. The finalists were selected
from hundreds of entries from around the world. Once again, George Lucas will

The 4th
Annual Star Wars Fan Film Award winners will be announced on Friday night, April
22nd, at Lucasfilm's massive Star Wars Celebration III fan event (April 21-24 in
Indianapolis, Indiana), just weeks before the long-awaited May 19 theatrical
release of Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith.
Judges at
Lucasfilm and AtomFilms agree that this year's contest submissions display the
highest level of filmmaking sophistication since the event began in 2002. The
entries from around the globe, including the United Kingdom, Canada, Puerto Rico
and Japan, took advantage of the most current technology to create polished film
experiences with impressive special effects. Finalist films range from
forty-five seconds to thirteen minutes in length, with the majority running
around five minutes.
Finalists in past competitions have been viewed over
10,000,000 times at AtomFilms' Fan Film Awards Web site (http://starwars.atomfilms.com).
"This year's entries
bring a wide range of perspectives on the Star Wars phenomenon," said Steve
Sansweet, Lucasfilm's head of fan relations. "Some are a reflection of pop
culture, some are spoofs on television commercials, and all show a dedication to
the saga, proving that Star Wars fans are like none other!"
"For the
fourth year in a row, fans have surprised and delighted us with their
ingenuity," said Mika Salmi, CEO AtomShockwave Corp. "Submissions were unique,
creative, and definitely exceeded our expectations. We look forward to what the
online audience says about these entertaining shorts."
