Improved Outcomes Releases GeneLinker(TM) Gold and Platinum Version 4.6
Improved Outcomes Software (IOS) today announced the release of GeneLinker(TM) Gold and Platinum 4.6, new versions of the award-winning Gene Expression and Proteomics Analysis Software products.
(PRWEB) January 14, 2005 -- Improved Outcomes Software (IOS) today announced
the release of GeneLinker(TM) Gold and Platinum 4.6, new versions of the
award-winning Gene Expression and Proteomics Analysis Software
products.
"The new releases are focused primarily on importing and
analyzing protein biomarker data, a high priority for many of our customers. For
example, we have integrated the Protein Biomarker Package into the latest
versions of the products (previously the Protein Biomarker Package required a
separate installation). We have also provided improved Proteomics Import Scripts
and enabled the import of p-value spectrum data to allow exported p-values from
ANOVA experiments to be re-imported, enabling novel visualization of channels
that best distinguish between different classes (see Protein
Biomarker/Proteomics Examples available on the website)" said Dr. Tom Radcliffe,
Chief Scientific Officer of IOS.
"The feature set required for microarray
analysis is becoming more mature so we have been concentrating more on
proteomics data recently. For example Silicon Genetics new GeneSpring™ 7
includes Support Vector Machines (SVMs). SVMs have been available in GeneLinker
Platinum for more than a year and a half. GeneLinker's committee of learners
architecture (still not available in GeneSpring™ 7) provides significant
advantages by preventing over-training and reducing the effect of bad samples by
requiring consensus among multiple learners to make predictions." said Mark
Chatterley, VP Bioinformatics at IOS.
"Despite our new focus, we are
still enhancing our products for gene expression data analysis. We've added
additional data import scripts to handle Koadarray ratio and two-color data
(including confidence values). Koadarray is very easy to use and produces better
results than other leading array image analysis software programs." added VP
Bioinformatics Mark Chatterley. IOS and Koada Technology will also soon be
announcing details of co-marketing discount offers on GeneLinker and Koadarray.
Further information about Koadarray image analysis software and a free
evaluation download can be found at http://www.koadarray.com/.
The main features in both
Platinum 4.6 and Gold 4.6 that differentiate them from the previous versions
are:
- Addition of Improved Outcomes' Protein Biomarker Package that
previously required a separate installation.
- Improved Proteomics Import
Scripts for use with the new NIH/NCI Center for Cancer Research Ovarian dataset
8-7-02 (see Protein Biomarker/Proteomics Examples available at http://www.improvedoutcomes.com/ for more details).
- New
“Import P-Value Spectrum” script creates a dataset from the p-values and
false-discovery rate. This allows exported p-values from ANOVA experiments to be
re-imported, enabling novel visualization of channels that best distinguish
between different classes (see Protein Biomarker/Proteomics Examples available
at http://www.improvedoutcomes.com/ for more details).
-
Additional data import scripts to handle Koadarray ratio and two-color data
(including confidence values).
This is also the first release of
GeneLinker by Improved Outcomes Software Inc. (following Predictive Patterns
Software Inc.'s merger with Visible Bytes Software Inc.).
GeneLinker Gold
is the entry level product that is well suited to researchers just entering the
area of genomics or proteomics research, while GeneLinker Platinum offers
powerful feature detection, committees of neural networks, committees of SVMs
and committees of Bayesian classifiers that are more suitable to the
intermediate or advanced researcher.
"This new release illustrates our
commitment to supporting and advancing the GeneLinker products. The feature sets
in either product cannot be matched by any of our competitors at their
respective price points," said Radcliffe. "It also demonstrates our commitment
to serving user needs--analysis of protein biomarker data, identifying channels
that statistically distinguish between different classes and new import formats
were the most frequent user-requested features, and we have responded to those
requests."
Improved Outcomes Software Inc. was formed by the merger of
Predictive Patterns Software Inc. and Visible Bytes Software Inc. in January of
2004. The company provides development, project management and data analysis
services in the bioinformatics, image guided surgery and IT industries and also
sells software products. Their target customer for the GeneLinker products is
the front-line investigator who has data and needs a powerful, intuitive tool to
analyze it.
